Owner / Veterinarian

Dr. Megan McKeage

Dr. McKeage decided she wanted to be a veterinarian when she was 8 years old. Inspired by her Pet Doctor Barbie and a deep-rooted love for animals, she grew up just outside Wichita with dogs, cats, ferrets, fish, and anole lizards.

She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 2013. Before opening Fur Family Animal Hospital, she worked as an associate veterinarian in Savannah, Georgia for 1 year and then back in Manhattan for almost 4 years.

Dr. McKeage has a special interest in preventative medicine and fostering the companion bond between pets and their people. She is Fear Free certified and passionate about vaccination, parasite prevention, spaying and neutering, and dental care.

She married her high school sweetheart Mitch, the Practice Manager at Fur Family. Together they have two children, Warren and Madilyn, plus Luna the cat and Minerva the dog.

Office Manager

Julie C.

Julie grew up in Nebraska with horses, dogs, cats, and birds. She graduated from Kansas State University in social science and became a certified professional dog trainer.

She assists the veterinarian with procedures and appointments and fills in for reception when needed. She lives in Manhattan with 3 dogs and 2 cats.

Abby is a certified veterinary assistant from Kansas City, currently pursuing her degree in Veterinary Nursing at Colby Community College.

She moved to Manhattan in 2020 with her partner Tom and their five cats: Ollie, Opal, Noodle, Grinch, and DQ. Raised on a farm in Missouri, she loves reading, board games, and cuddling with her kitties.

Miranda B.

Miranda plans to return to school for her RVT certification. A military brat who settled in Junction City, she graduated from Cloud County Community College with an Associate degree in Science.

Since second grade she knew she wanted to work with animals. Miranda assists with appointments with a smile and friendly demeanor for both pets and clients.

Practice Manager (Part-Time)

Mitchell McKeage

Originally from Canada, Mitchell has called Manhattan home since 2010. He earned his BBA in 2011 and MBA in 2013.

His interest in small business operations and animal welfare led to founding Fur Family Animal Hospital with Dr. McKeage. When not working, he enjoys sporting events, Xbox, 3D printing, and woodworking.

In Memory

Maverick McKeage

Former Chief Canine Officer

Maverick joined the McKeage family in 2011 and helped raise two children, supported the building of the hospital, and gave 12 wonderful years before succumbing to cancer in 2023.
